Itchy skin
Itchy skin during perimenopause may result from declining estrogen affecting skin hydration and collagen production. Some women describe crawling sensations (formication).
How to track
- Log episodes with timestamp and affected body areas.
- Rate severity from 1-10 using a consistent scale.
- Note environmental factors: weather, humidity, skincare products.
- Record whether scratching provides relief or worsens irritation.
Common context
Often worsens in dry environments, after hot showers, or during periods of hormonal fluctuation. May coincide with other skin changes.
What to bring to a clinician
- Which body areas are affected most?
- What time of day is itching worst?
- Have you noticed any patterns with product use or environment?
- Does moisturizing help reduce episodes?
